Handmade in Cygnet - Open Studio Art Trail

Cygnet has it's own tartan!

Local weaver, and Handmade in Cygnet founder, Vicki Taiwo has designed Cygnet's very own tartan which will be launched at the 2018 art trail. Inspired by the colours of the Cygnet environment (blue sky, green bush & the black & red of Cygnet's swans) Vicki's long-term interest in tartans caused her to ask "Tasmania has a tartan, why not Cygnet?". The Cygnet Tartan will be registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans and apparel will be available after the art trail at Near & Far in Cygnet and The Spindle Tree in Salamanca. See Vicki's tartan here.

The 2018 Art Trail

Local artists and makers will again fling open the doors of their studios and workshops next Easter Sunday and Monday. They are looking forward to meeting you and welcome the opportunity to chat about their work practices and creative lives.

The creative community of the Cygnet area continues to grow and thrive and Handmade in Cygnet Open Studio Art Trail offers visitors (even regulars!) the opportunity to discover the area's creative output and the 'hidden gem' nooks and crannies that inspire the area's artists and makers.

What previous visitors have said...

"Had a wonderful first day on the trail. Did 15 artists, met heaps of very interesting and talented people. Feeling so inspired, will dream of all things artistic to night. Will hit the trail again for another wonderful day tomorrow. Loving it." - Deborah

"Such a beautiful weekend" - Ellen

"THANK YOU so much for organising Handmade in Cygnet. We, four of us, have just finished 5 hours on this trail. WOW! We were so impressed with everything we saw, and made many purchases... but, unfortunately, we only managed 7 studios. I guess, that was due to talking too much to the artist/craft people. Not to forget the stunning scenery made our day too! What a brilliant day, we can' t stop talking about who we met and what we saw. PLEASE, have it as an annual event." - Kaye
