Handmade in Cygnet - Open Studio Art Trail

Glass My Art!

Glass My Art! is a small studio in Cygnet, Tasmania owned by glass artist Toni Moloney. After purchasing a small fused and slumped dish when living in Victoria twenty years ago, which she still has today, Toni was inspired by this piece and she finally got the opportunity to learn the art of fusing & slumping glass in Brisbane ten years ago.

Toni has a passion for glass and has set up her studio here in Cygnet. She says fusing & slumping glass is a continual journey of inspiration followed by the creation of glass art pieces that are original in design.

She regularly displays and sells her work at local markets such as Cygnet, Franklin, Woodbridge and Willie Smiths. She has recently completed a number of commissions which she enjoyed working on. She encourages her clients to experience the many phases of the creation of their own original piece of glass art. Her recent commission included a mirror with a stunning art deco design, colourful platters, spoon rests and coasters.

She also enjoys experimenting with different glass colours, textures and materials such as wood, barbed wire and other metals to achieve a variety of effects. Recently she has started working with Vintage Window Glass which she uses to make platters and dishes in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes.

The wall or floor art, which is on Toni’s business cards, is to date her favourite piece, it took six plus months to complete and it is made using a beautiful silky oak window from a hundred year old “Queenslander” house as the frame and fused glass panels. It will be on display during the art trail.
