Handmade in Cygnet - Open Studio Art Trail

Sheena Lowe

Sheena Lowe Designs @ Birdsong Studio/Gallery

Sheena has always been creative and received her first graphic design commission while still at high school. These days when not teaching art, she uses her many creative skills to free range between a variety of techniques and materials to design and make distinctive homewares and gifts.

Recently retired from 13 years at Salamanca Market, Sheena has become well known both here and abroad for her range of slipcast ceramics inspired by the sea, colourful fish wall mounts, hand printed t-shirts for adults and children, quirky dioramas made from found objects and her world famous ‘Map of Tassie’ aprons.

Sheena’s love of colour and working with flowers has lead her to particularly enjoy the challenge of working on commissioned vases for domestic or corporate spaces where she can liaise with clients to produce an individual piece for a special setting. This love of colour and flowers is also reflected in Sheena’s home and garden where she has planted out many bird attracting, long lasting flower varieties for flower arrangements.

Visitors are welcome to sit a while, enjoy a cuppa in the garden and take in the abundant birdlife with their myriad of birdsongs.
