Growing up in the Huon Valley, jewellery making and design have always been a great passion of Emily’s. You could say that this interest started at an early age, with Emily creating and selling beaded jewellery from the age of twelve. She began her career after high school working retail in a jewellery store until she began an apprenticeship in Jewellery Manufacture in 2012.

Throughout her training and years on the bench, Emily has learnt many new and old manufacturing techniques, priding herself on making silver and gold pieces completely from scratch.

In 2021, Emily made the leap to continue her jewellery career on her own through the establishment of her business, Emmire Jewellery.

Finesse and flow are two very important factors Emily considers when designing a piece. Her inspiration is in part drawn from her love and appreciation of antique jewellery, particularly Art Nouveau and Celtic pieces. She is further inspired by the natural wonders that our earth produces, with amazing landscapes and floral designs seen in her work.

Gemstones are a great curiosity and love of Emily’s, with the majority of her work featuring an array of natural gems to intrigue and delight. She has gained a Diploma in Gemmology and is now a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Australia.

With a strong connection to Tasmania, Emily enjoys working with gems and designs that showcase her home island state, although she often cannot resist the beauty of so many other gemstones from around the world.
