Arriving at Ripples Art Farm you have access to a picnic rest spot with water views…and a flushing toilet!
Ripples Art Farm, home to multi-media artists Ruth and Daren Lindsell, is a 10-minute beautiful coastal drive from the village of Cygnet. As the name implies, the property is situated on the Cygnet Coast Road overlooking the beautiful Huon River and Hartz Mountains, from which both artists take creative inspiration.
For Daren that not only entails the visual beauty of the landscape but also the raw materials of driftwood which he uses to create unique one-of-a-kind furniture and sculpture, whilst Ruth makes good use of the ‘scraps’ creating bespoke handcarved spoons.
Both are also accomplished sculptors, creating many large sculptures on their property and for public art projects. Stroll the 2km Sculpture Walk, and you will have the opportunity to see a wide variety of large sculptures and installations whilst taking in the breathtaking views of the Huon River and Hartz Mountains.
In their respective studios, you can see the processes involved in creating their work: Ruth’s studio is where her watercolour and acrylic paintings come to life; whilst Daren’s shed is where the bigger works are created. Ruth also has a mobile studio set up in a gorgeous Kombi which she can be seen about painting ‘en plein air’. The Kombi will be set up for the Handmade in Cygnet Trail event. The couple attend fortnightly Cygnet Markets in the Kombi with their work for sale.
Please note as they have wildlife on their property, they ask that you do not take your dogs on the Sculpture Walk. Outside of Art Trail times, the Ripples Art Farm Sculpture Walk will be open by appointment.
